Name :   Dr. R. Chattopadhyay ( Executive Committee Member ) Present Involvement :   Ex- Regional Director (ER), National Dairy Development Board Core Competency :   Born on 9th July 1943 in Nadia District and carried out Secondary Education from the local schools at Barajagulia. He completed his Intermediate in Science from Vidyasagar College, Calcutta University during the Year 1961. He completed his BVSc. & AH with Distinction and Honours from Calcutta University in 1965. In the year 1973, he obtained M.Sc (AH) from Kalyani University with First Class and stood first in the said course. During the Year 1965, he joined Haringhata Farm as Veterinary Assistant Surgeon and continued there till 1966. During the same year, he received commission in the Indian Army under RVC, but did not join the Army Service. He was subsequently selected by West Bengal Public Service Commission as Assistant Superintendent of Livestock in State Livestock Farm Kalyani and thereafter, selected as Superintendent Livestock under WFP 618. He was offered the post of Project Executive in National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) in 1977 and continued in various capacities till 2001, the year of his retirement from the post of General Manager designated as Regional Director in NDDB. Besides his tenure at Anand, he was also a State Coordinator for Haryana, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh for implementation of Operation Flood. He was also in the advisory board of Governor of Punjab during 1987-88. During his tenure in NDDB in the year 1995, as a special mission for rehabilitation of Dairy Cooperatives, he was assigned the job of Managing Director, Ajmer Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union in Rajasthan and accomplished the responsibility with high appreciation. He was also holding the responsibility of General Manager, Animal Breeding Centre, Salon, an exotic Dairy Cattle Farm and also Sabarmati Ashram Gaushala, a renowned cross breeding project managed by NDDB. In these projects, besides semen production of Dairy Cattle, he was also responsible for implementation of Embryo Transfer with latest technology. He was also engaged as an Advisor for a period of two years at Usha Martin at their Ranchi Rural Development Project. After his retirement from NDDB, he has been assigned by Kaira District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd. to take the responsibility for initiating Liquid Milk Operation in Kolkatta. Till now, he is continuing as Officer on Special Duty in AMUL. The Milk Operation, which covers sourcing of raw materials and production of Liquid Milk, Dahi, Ice Cream, Sterilized Flavoured Milk (SFM) and Butter Milk, besides that of other administration responsibilities to manage the affair.
